PLOFFF – the sound of great beer

Beer drinkers know and love this sound: the typical ‘plofff’ you hear when opening a swing-top bottle of Wieselburger. True enjoyment of a refreshing beer begins even before the first mouthful is taken. Wieselburger with the original swing-top bottle has long since achieved cult status, offering a smooth, full-bodied taste experience straight from the bottle. Plus the beer’s extra long-lasting freshness and sparkle, made possible thanks to the resealable bottle.

Unbeatably fresh since 1875

There is some dispute about who actually invented the swing-top. The original patent was first claimed by the American Charles de Quillfeldt in 1875, although the swing-top was already being developed and produced in Germany at that time. Towards the end of the 19th century, German businessman Karl Hutter bought the patent from Quillfeldt, creating the basis for its future international popularity.

Over the years the swing-top has been consistently refined. It experienced another revival in the 1980s, and is popular today with beer drinkers all over the world.

For years, Wieselburger has been the undisputed number one in the swing-top bottle segment. Our brewery, more than any other, is the embodiment of knowledge, experience and craftsmanship. Our exceptional beer, sealed with the original swing-top, offers perfect beer enjoyment, right from the opening of the bottle.
